The Bear and the Maiden Fair are a series of short stories that I have created based on a popular song in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. Game of Thrones, is an amazing and influential story to me and I knew that I wanted to take some part of Westeros and adapt it to my style and way of storytelling. It seems to be a common theme amongst my work, to take something gruesome and turn it into something lighthearted and humorous. To see and appreciate it under a different light.

The Bear and the Maiden Fair story immediately stuck with me while I read the books, and I couldn’t shake it off. I started drawing the little characters and eventually they turned into little comics. I put great emphasis on certain words from the song that George wrote such as: hair, honey, bear, fair and maiden and wanted to have them be consistent throughout all the stories.
